Xbox News Update: Playable Poem Available for Download

Child of Light

Xbox news update: As hype around the Xbox One continues to grow, Ubisoft have announced that Child of Light will be downloadable for the new era console.

The game, described as a ‘playable poem’ will be available to be downloaded on a series of platforms including the Playstation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, on the PC in 2014 and as soon as the first console of the new generation is launched, Xbox One. This final machine has much interest circulating around it; its release has been much awaited all year, especially given that its predecessor the Xbox 360 was released eight years ago.

Ubisoft, the game’s creator have released further details about the playable poem as it has been dubbed and these include what you do in the game. Players will adopt the role of Aurora, a young princess in her kingdom – Lemuria – and she is on a quest to recapture the light sources, three in total and restore the kingdom to its perfect state.

She will face adversity en route though as she has to defeat the Black Queen as well as a whole host of enemies that appear to her in a host of forms including wolves and dragons. It’s not all doom and gloom though as she will receive assistance from friendly gnomes and fairies, and let’s not forget Aurora’s firefly friend who is available to be controlled by a co-op partner.

Fans of the Final Fantasy series of games will be pleased as it appears that the creators have borrowed some ideas from the games, including the Active Time Battle System. Ubisoft Montreal’s Patrick Plourde whose history includes working as creative director on games such as Far Cry 3 and had a hand in the creation of the Assassin’s Creed series.
