Thomson News Update: New Flight Added Glasgow to Punta Cana
Thomson news update: Thomson have made plans to add a Boeing 787 Dreamliner to their fleet to serve flyers between Glasgow and the Dominican Republic.
Travel company Thomson have decided that they will be adding a Boeing 787 Dreamliner to the services they offer from Glasgow airport. This is will be first time in two years that there have been flights operating on a between Scotland and the Dominican Republic; the flights will be weekly from Glasgow to Punta Cana for the summer season from 1st May 2014.
Glasgow are branching out with their long-haul flights and the route to the Dominican Republic will be the third long-haul destination for Thomson. The other Dreamliners that Thomson have currently operating from Glasgow fly to Orlando, Florida and Cancun, Mexico.
In addition to this flight from Glasgow, Thomson are adding a flight to the Greek island of Kos as well as the First Choice holiday village Marmari which has a four star rating. As if that wasn’t enough, Thomson are also scheduled to fly weekly to Rhodes, Zante and Majorca but these are not new destinations for the company. Gran Canaria will see new ten and eleven night long journeys serve them.
Paul Cooper, the airport negotiations manager for Thomson and First Choice has endorsed the new plans with the sentiment that they consider Glasgow an important airport for them and they are acutely aware of the demand that is in place for services such as this from regional airports.
He also implied that they have a grander scheme for their businesses Thomson and First Choice – flights and hotels respectively – and aim to make the whole holiday experience more fulfilling for their passengers and visitors.
Glasgow airport have responded to the addition with statement detailing their pleasure at being involved in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s maiden voyage and have stated that they are very pleased with the confidence that Thomson have shown in their airport and the demand that they see there.
