Tesco Bank News Update: With regards to the Tesco Bank annual awards, the PA to the personnel director at the company has explained why Edinburgh is perfect.

Edinburgh is one of the most popular cities for weekend getaways and the Tesco Bank annual awards ceremony have endorsed this belief by choosing to hold their ceremony there this year. Sam Dailly, the PA to the personnel director, has explained why they made this choice.

“Edinburgh is a city that offers not only beautiful landscapes, food and culture, but hospitality that is second to none. It boasts an award-winning conference centre that has just undergone a huge extension and refurbishment. The city-centre hotels also have some great conference and meeting spaces that have beautiful views over the city.

Spoilt for choice

Edinburgh Waverley has received a facelift recently, making it more passenger-friendly, while Haymarket train station is about to be transformed and made larger. And, although it’s a bit of a taboo subject, when the tram system is complete, Edinburgh will be an upgraded cosmopolitan city that still has the feel of a friendly town. Depending on what your group is in Edinburgh for, its location makes it perfect for a mix of city and country adventures.

Cultural centre

Edinburgh is a walking city. If delegates have any down time, they can easily wander the streets and soak up the culture that is on every corner. It has a harbour in Leith, which is a short bus ride away, where the likes of Tom Kitchin’s Michelin-starred restaurant is located, along with a selection of delicious seafood restaurants. The city offers delegates a great place to shop and an array of cocktail and wine bars, as well as some little gems that are hidden down the quaint, cobbled back streets.

Transport links

We chose Norton House Hotel and Spa for our Tesco Bank Awards event, because it was close to our office and, although it was just a stone’s throw from the city, it felt like we were ‘away from it all’. It was also conveniently close to the airport and motorway for the delegates who were travelling from Glasgow and Newcastle. The function room was a perfect size for our group and there was a garden where we could host our drinks reception. This event was held earlier this year, in May, and as we were blessed with beautiful weather, we used this garden to its full effect.

We used Roselle Events for support – it knows the city inside and out and was great at helping us find a venue that ticked all of our boxes. It has 11 years’ experience in event management and supported us fully from start to finish.”
