More on the Talk Talk Group:
Talk Talk (not to be confused with the British art-rock band) are one of the biggest’s communications operators, but it’s also one of the newest, with an interesting history to boot. Talk Talk was founded following the purchase of Opal Telecom in 2002 by The Carphone Warehouse. CWG discovered that their purchase gave them their own switching network, which gave them access to BT Wholesale’s landline network. An initial trial was run in Manchester, offering much cheaper calls than BT would. The trial was an overwhelming success and the business launched with gusto in 2003, as Talk Talk launched a string of high profile TV adverts and the tagline “It’s good to talk, it’s better to Talk Talk”, a pun on BT’s “It’s good to talk” tagline. Since then, Talk Talk have launched several new products, including high speed fibre optic broadband and several international telephone call packages to people. Building on their successes in telephone and Internet, Talk Talk then launched their own IPTV service, which it had purchased from Tiscali. Later, upon being invited to join the YouView consortium, Talk Talk began offering “Talk Talk Plus TV” in 2012, which combined a YouView box with their phone and Internet lines.
